When The Extra Blades Count
It's no secret that there are a ton of different props on the market. Some of you might wonder why anyone would stick a 5 blade on a bass boat and I'll tell you. When gearing up to hit any body of water that is known to be rough you had better be prepared. A lot of you will read this and think "everyone knows this" but not everyone does. It was just a few years ago I was fishing a BASS open on Lake Erie and one of the elite guys came to me and asked how I liked the HighFive on my Triton and what advantages it had. I basically just said it's like four wheel drive for your boat. My three blade takes a minute to get on plane and drops off plane at around 30mph. That's fast through 4+ foot waves. With the 5 blade it comes out of the hole like a rocket and I can go as slow as 12mph and still be on plane. I did run the 3 blade in some rough water and it almost beat my guts out but this 5 blade just holds to the water and crawls through the big water. No; it's not the fastest top speed prop but you aren't going to be racing through water rough enough to swallow you anyway. I know it's not the most exciting topic but it's info people need to be aware of! Thanks for reading!!!
