Bomber Lures Fat Free Shad Square Lip

5.0 (1 Review)

The Bomber Fat Free Shad Square Lip combines the tried-and-true Fat Free Shad body profile with a special square-lip bill that deflects cover like a champ. Adding more snag-free ability is the bait’s nose-down attitude in the water, which positions the hooks behind the body and keeps them out of trouble. It’s the perfect crankbait for fishing mid-depth cover and structure.

How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Count The Ways.

I am a crankbaiting fanatic. Shallow, middle, deep, over grass , through cover, by docks, along flats, down ledges, in ditches,etc.,etc.. I think you got the idea. By the way, I love crankin'!!! The Bomber Fat Free Shad is in my opinion the best all around, versatile, and best catching mid depth crankbait on the market. Why mid depth you say? I thought they are deep divers? Well they are but we all know with crankbait fishing that if the depth is 10ft then you want a crankbait that goes 12' or even 14'. Yes we know that bass go deep in the summer, late fall, and winter. We all know that they love the shallows when chasing shad in the fall and in spring while spawning. Of course all this is contigent on where you live. But ......did you know that the mid cranking depths is not a often used technique or where a majority of quality bass are? Whhaaaaatttt? It depends on the thermocide level where you live but true. The Fat Free Shad and its cousins especially this square lip is the hands down winner. If I am fishing in the summer I hit the banks but find some rip rap with depths 10-12 ft and throw this plug to the bank and reel in occasionally using the sweep ripping technique. Position yourself about 30 yards from bank. You will catch a lot at 15-20 yards from bank and even close to boat using this crankbait especially in Dance's Citrus Shad for the summer and late spring. See my post on the fishing trip I took to El Salto Lake in Mexico. I have had days where I caught 20+ bass in an hour or so using this technique. I will post some other post later on using this lure.
