Lew's Speed Spool LFS Series Casting Reel
The most recognizable change in the Speed Spool is its frame design. The new frame is one-piece die-cast aluminum with easily removable palming graphite sideplates. The new Speed Spool weighs only 7 ounces, mostly due to its new frame platform called LFS, which helps reduce the overall weight of the reel but also increases the distance between the zirconia line guide and the drilled machine forged and anodized aluminum U spool which gives anglers extreme distance on the cast.

Awesome first reel
by
James Crow

It was my first bait casting reel after trying several others. zero rats nests! Great distance and smooth retrieve. comfortable to hold too. I'm in love.

Good first reel
This was my first reel and it performed excellently. It's smooth and casts well if everything is set right. Although you have to set it differently often depending on your bait. Great first reel and it works well.

Awesome reel.
Now I'm Shimano guy but I have to say I will be looking into more lews reels both in this model and the higher end ones.

Great reel for the price
It's a great reel for this price range I use it in 6:8:1 on my spinner bait and my jerkbait Rods. It works well for a bait that you will be casting I perfect and duel brake for anything I'mgoing to flip or pitch. But it's light and cast just as well as any reel in this price range

Outstanding

I purchased 2 of these reels, both in 7.5:1 ratios, just for jigs and flipping. With the 10-bearing system, they are incredibly smooth. I have 65lb braided line spooled on both, 1 is a texas rig, and the other is an either 3/8 or 1/2 once flipping jig with a trailer. I couldn't have asked for better quality. The 10-lb drag, is a little on the undersized but that can be easily fixed with putting your thumb on the spool when setting the hook. The lightweight design makes flipping all day very constant with low fatigue in my hand. The paddle handles give you that extra grip, especially in the rain (i love fishing in the rain) and with the 7.5:1 ratio, they get both your bait and you fish back to the boat or shore quickly. I would STRONGLY recommend these to anyone. They are well priced for anyone, especially the angler on a budget (like me). I was a die-hard brand lover (of another company) but these turned my hand and my mind.

SSG1S 5.6:1 what a smooth with a large Line Capacity the reel casts a mile, easy to crank with the large paddle grips and extended handle for more torque.this reel holds up to the abuse of today's magnum crankbaits without wearing you down over day of fishing and swinging hogs over the rail!

Flippin and pitching
This reel is simply amazing. I love to flip and pitch with my lews reel it's light weight and smooth fits right in my hand not to mention it is very reasonable priced

Best kid reel on the market for the price
I bought my 8 year old son one to learn how to use a baitcaster. With in a couple casts he was casting as far as most adults without one back lash. Best beginners reel on the market.

Best on the market
All the other positive reviews nail it exactly. Like most, I have fished other brands in the past. Once I bought and fished my first Lews, I was hooked. (Pun intended). I too fish nothing else now. I have bought at least one of each model. Each one having its own purpose. Try one and you will be a believer.

Best Reel Around

I've used other reels in the past. Once I picked up a LEW'S anything else was set to the side. I recommend anyone and everyone that is into fishing to purchase a LEW'S. No matter how hard you use the LEW'S reels they never quit!

Best Reel Made
Made the switch to Lew's this year and I wish I had done it sooner. Best reel I have ever put in my hands!

Only reels I fish with now
by
Bryson Hyde

I love the lews brand from the lfs reel to the laser mg! Lews is the only reel I use now! I've threw Abu garcias, quatums, pinnacles, ardents, phflugeurs, shimanos, shakespears, diawas, and more but the lews still remains my favorite! Feel the difference!
LEWS!!!!!!!

Will never buy anything else.
I bought one of these about 4 months ago. I absolutely love it. I now have one on every rod that I own. Smooth, easy to set up and adjust. If you're looking for a great quality reel for the price I would absolutely recommend it to anyone. I will not be changing anytime in the near future.

Why buy anything else

I own eight of these reels and don't plan on changing my reel selection any time soon, I just don't see the need to spend 200-300 on a reel that performs the same as this $100 dollar ree l. If you're a low budget angler like me this is the perfect reel, have done everything from fish weightless to a umbrella rig and have had no problems what so ever. Can't go wrong with a Lew's, its performance at it's finest!!!!

This reel is one of my favorite reels that I have. One of my favorite things I really like about this reel is how far you are able to cast. I would for sure recommend this to anyone just because of how easy it is to get used to and a really good beginning reel. Very good quality for what you pay for with this reel.

Pitchin' Jigs
Smooth, dependable, light, contouring, and nasty. These words are a few that describe the Lews Speed Spool LFS series. I have this reel strapped to a 7' H pitchin' rod, let me tell you that this reel will wrench those hogs out of brush. I rig this reel up with 20# flourocarbon and I have no problems casting, flipping, pitching, or birds nesting! I have not had a birds nest once with this reel, and yes I do skip jigs around docks. This reel is incredible with the 7.5:1 gear ratio. You can really bring in some line when targeting those spawning bass. The tension and braking adjustment knobs are easy to use and don't get in the way. The grips on the handles have a wider design which is nice on the finger and thumb.
