Founded in the back of a sporting goods store by Al Stuart in 1954, Al's Goldfish Lure Co has been making high quality American Made lures in New England ever since. Unlike other lure manufacturers who close factories and move overseas, AL's is committed to supporting American manufacturing wherever it can. Al's beginnings bring a nostalgic reminder of a simpler time. The lures were used on the first televised fishing show the "Flying Fisherman" with Gadabout Gaddis showing to a wide audience how effective they are. The popularity exploded leading to the Goldfish being one of the top selling lures in the country for multiple decades. The show which was originally sponsored by Liberty Mutual, aired on Saturday afternoons across the country becoming an Emmy nominated hit through the 1960's. Recognized as one of Field and Streams 50 Greatest Lures of All Time, the Goldfish has been catching a long list of species in fresh water, salt water and ice fishing for decades. Other great original lures such as the"Helgy" and 49er continue to be secret weapons of serious fisherman while new products like the living lures are flying off the shelves.
