Southbound Express: Six Renegade Bass pros headed to Guntersville for the 2015 BASSMASTER Team Championship
It is no secret that Renegade Bass is Canada's premiere competitive bass tournament series, attracting many of Canada's top anglers who compete for big cash and prizes. However, few people know that since 2014 Renegade Bass has also provided its competitors with the opportunity to compete for a chance to fish in the super bowl of bass fishing “ the BASSMASTER Classic.
From December 9 “ 12, 2015 six (6) of Canada's top anglers are heading south to the legendary Lake Guntersville, Alabama to compete in the Bassmaster Team Championship, a unique format that offers team tournament anglers an opportunity to win a spot in the BASSMASTER Classic. Renegade Bass (one of only two Canadian tournament series that offers this opportunity), qualified two (2) teams based upon their combined total weight for the 2015 qualifier events and Classic. In addition, the winning team from the 2015 Thousand Island's Open, presented by Hookset.com was awarded a spot.
The format for the Bassmaster Team Championship is simple “ teams that qualify through sanctioned team tournament trails compete for the first 2 days of the tournament. The top 6 teams after 2 days qualify for a two day tournament event - but with one major twist. In this event, teammates become competitors, as the final 6 teams split up to fish as 12 individuals and the winner automatically qualifies for the biggest show in bass fishing “ the BASSMASTER Classic!

The following Canadian Teams have qualified through Renegade Bass:
David Chong & Doug Brownridge: The 2015 Renegade Bass Classic XX champions were also the top placing team this season with a combined weight of 107.39 pounds for the 4 qualifier events and the 2 day Classic.
Marc Alain & Pierre-Hughes Lussier: Finishing the 2015 season with the second highest combined qualifier and classic weight of 103.34, the anglers from Quebec are also heading to Guntersville. This is Pierre-Hughes' second consecutive year qualifying for the BASSMASTER Team Championship.
Chris Johnston & Lynn Johnston: Chris and Lynn qualified by winning the 2015 Thousand Island's Open presented by Hookset.com, with a whopping three-day weight of 73.79 pounds of smallmouth bass.
These anglers all head to Lake Guntersville with hopes of joining Renegade Bass Pro Charles Sim at the 2016 BASSMASTER Classic. Charles qualified for the Classic after winning the Eastern Division of the B.A.S.S. Nation Championship on Lake Ouchita on November 7, 2015. Charles is only the second Canadian to have ever qualified to fish in the Bassmaster Classic. Good luck at the 2016 BASSMASTER Classic Charles!
