Today I headed out to do some soft swim bait fishing for pike with a buddy of mine. I really wanted to put the new G Loomis E6X 884C SWB (swim bait rod) and the E6X 903C MBR to the test. Let me tell you by the end of the day both rods had a good workout boating close to fourty pike. No pike of any size were caught but lots of fun catch them on soft swimbaits. G Loomis has done one heck of a job designing and building the E6X series of rods. They are light in weight. G Loomis has developed multi taper technology to construct these blanks. This technology allows the blanks to be made with a consistant blank wall thickness eliminating weak points over the length of the blank but maintaining strength to weight ratio. Both rods I used had Shimano Curado 200i spooled with 30lb. Super 8 Slick Power Pro and a15lb.fluorocarbon leader. The bait of choice was a Jackall Ammonite shad in green pumpkin gold/silver colour rigged on an 1/2 oz salt water Kalin's Ultimate jighead. All day long we caught pike by making long bomb casts and then retrieving the Ammonite Shad over weed flats in 5-10 fow. Four things I like about soft swim baits for pike or any fish is that you are only dealing with one hook, two.....most often the hook is straight up in the pike's snout = no bite offs, three..... the swim bait comes through or can be ripped clean out of weeds and four......fish eat them up!!! A good rod is a bent rod.........

I agree 100 percent, Craig. The E6X series rods are sweet. I can't wait to throw chatterbaits with the 903. It will also serve as a great stick for spinnerbaits, traps and swim baits. With a price point just slightly north of $200, the E6X rods are a super deal.
