FLW Costa Series

Practice for the FLW Costa Series went ok yielding 30 keepers a day. Fishing was easy running the backs of creeks. I only had one big one in practice. The fish were very shallow and some on beds. Staying with the same pattern for day 1 of the tournament landed me 18lbs. I used a 1/2 oz Santone spinnerbait as well as a 1/2 oz Chatterbait all day. With 207 pros in the field it had me in 24th place after day 1, only 2lbs out of the top 10 cut. I fished the same pattern and mixed in some new water but only had 14lbs the second day. I finished in 37th place only 5lbs from the top ten cut and managed to get a check. I used a McCain 6'6" medium rod in the Premium series for my spinnerbait, and a 7'2" medium McCain cranking rod in the Tommy Martin Series for my chatterbait. These rods were perfect for these two baits as every catch had me pulling the hooks deep from there mouths. A great example of my equipment performing exactly how they were designed.
