2018 ice season update

This winter has been just crazy from the quick warm up we had early Januaray to the hard freeze that followed to the outstanding amount of great clients I've had out. The highlight was 2-11 when I had a group of 5 in the Racine harbor for the Salmon Unlimated Trout Tournament. We started off with one small 3.9lb brown and no sooner as I got back from weighing it in, I saw an automatic fisherman fall over with a tank of a steelhead on the other end. After a 20min fight and Dominic having to call in his older brother to give him a break, we had a 12.20lb steelhead topside which won the steelhead division and was only .5lbs away from the big fish bonus. On the tournament side, I have only competed in one NAIFC tournament so far this winter and that was on Channel Lake in Antioch Ill. We got our 8 crappies and 8 bluegills but the nicer ones we were on the day prior moved and shutdown (go figure lol). It's now time to get ready for more trips this weekend and then gear up for NAIFC on lake Menomin in Northern Wisconsin at the end of the month.
