Big Fat Pink

Just returned from chasing pinks salmon on the fly in the estuaries. Fish are few in numbers compared to the past and fishing is very tough, but I did manage to hook and land a few. The ones I did get were very large for this species. Here is one of the heaviest pinks I caught. Measures 24" in length but man oh man, look at the girth. This thing was a hoot to play and land. My Amundson X3 reel worked great. Smooth drag and no issues with the salt water at all. He had me at least 50 metres out into my backing. It was a great reminder of why I buy reels one size larger than the staed capacity, just so I can put on extra backing, eespecially for coho. I've used this Trend X3 reel for 2 seasons now and it hasn't given me any problems whatsoever. I'm really impressed with it. I use a larger one on the coho and it has worked the same. What a great little reel.
