Labour Day Weekend Fun
With the chill of fall approaching, I took advantage of some of my last fairweather ocean fishing.
The bites were hot. We had good non stop action for the first part of the day, although some were wild coho and undersized springs (not keepers) we managed to land a couple hatchery coho.
I had a beauty coho take my hoochie on the surface just as I was about to clip the line to the rigger and send it down...That made for a really fun fight. There I was laughing because I had zero drag set and was unprepared to hook into anything right there. Stranger things have happened. I WISH I had brought a fly rod to bucktail the surface...
Later in the day the bite slowed down but we enjoyed the scenery and dolphins passing by. It was a perfect sunny sunday with a beautiful coho salmon dinner.
