2017 KATS - Midwest Kayak Fishing Series

KATS - Midwest an expansion of the popular KATS (Kayak Anglers Tournament Series) from Texas completed it's inaugural year in Michigan with rave reviews by participants who are looking forward to 2017. The Texas based company Austin, Canoe & Kayak (ACK) merged with Michigan based Summit Sports in 2016 and using much the same successful format as it's Texas based kayak fishing series and was able to attract 40 to 50 participants for each of the three events based out of Brighton, Lansing, and Keego Harbor, Michigan. For 2017 the goal will be to increase participation for the same three event series plus the Border City Classic which will count for points toward Angler of the Year. With close to 100% payback of registration collected paying out to the top five placements saw each event award almost $1,000 to the top angler. An increase in participation will raise the cash prizes in 2017. With two divisions offered, Pro and Social, which gives both the competitive or first time tournament angler a level of competition that suits their comfort level. These three events are all within an hour or so from the Windsor/Detroit Border which also attracted several anglers from Ontario for the 2016 series.
