Round 3 of the VSHTS

Well the day for me was a bust to start things off. I just didn't bring my A game I guess. This was the smallest turnout for the series to date with only 36 anglers. The problem was is that all 36 went to one major weed bed in the bay that was holding fish and drilled all the fish out at the start. This made finding fresh and un-spooked fish the key to the day. Those that did well, stumbled upon pods of non-harassed fish. I made all the right moves but I just wasn't able to connect on and crappie. I have decent gills and small perch. One crappie would saved the day for me. Good friend and fishing partner Dylan Smith won the whole deal with a nice bag of 3.68 lbs pushing him into first place in the point standings for the season. My bag of 1.78 held me in the top ten just out of the the top five in sixth place for the points. One event left and there's only 20 points separating first and third with the top ten in striking distance with a good day. We'll have to wait and see what happens in two weeks!
