Trout Opener 2014

Wow, what a weekend opener this was. My first time taking float fishing a try on a center-pin reel and an 11 foot rod, and taking trout opener serious. Let me tell you many more years and openers I'll be ready to go. It took me a better half of the morning and Saturday to figure out the float reel and how to cast and present, and how not to get tangled like crazy all the time (may I add I am still learning), I finally got the hang of it, and a couple good fish and one potential fish of a life time! What I can address my biggest problem when I was beginning was distributing and identifying just how many split shots should go on my lead and on my float line, size, where abouts on the line as well. Not to mention staying positive and telling yourself its all going to be worth the untangling and re-tying and all the non-sense that comes with trying some thing new! It sure was a weekend I'll never forget. It's a pretty good feeling when your walking the creek and every person you talk to is catching and doing well. Just really shows the love for the sport of fishing we all have. I have some great video footage that I cant wait to show on here. Still haven't decided to do one video for opener and another for the rest of the year! Special shout out to my good sponsors Imperium Baits and Jig Masters Outdoors. I'll be sure to keep everyone up to date with the trout season and progress that comes with a beginner float fisherman. Thanks for reading and Cheers to a great opener. Garrett
