Windy Day Walleye
I was happy to get invited out by my good friends Pete and Craig to fish the Walleye opener on Rice Lake this past Saturday. We got there just as the wind was picking up and for those that were out there you know it did NOT let up! With the late spring and little weed growth traditional buck tail ripping did not seem like the ticket. We had to go a little more finesse and managed to land 6 keepers on 1/4oz jig heads tipped with TriggerX minnows and grubs. Even caught one bonus fish on a Shad Rap, though crank baits seemed to call in more bass than walleye. A subtle lift and drag seemed to be what the fish preferred however you really needed to "feel" that braided line with 30-40k winds!

6 keepers in 40k winds sure sounds like a successful trip to me.
Nicely done !
