Crank up the Smallies

Got a call on Sunday to head out to Lake Erie with my buddy Pete for some NY smallmouth action. It was a beautiful day and fish were scattered at depths from 4 to 25 feet as they begin to stage for the spawn. Our better fish came in mid depths from 8-14 feet. We used a 1-2 punch of X-raps for suspended fish and DT16 and Storm Arashi's for the ones that were hugging bottom. The crank bait fish really needed it fished slow and grinding the bottom to get bit, and as usual, Pete whooped my butt with a toad going close to 6 lbs.
