ice fishing
I had a few days of r&r and immediatly thought of fishing. I called my brother Tom Waldock and sure enough he was into it. tommy had the gear ready to go in a seconds notice! The JW Marriott Rosseau Muskoka Resort was good enough to give us a sled and the opportunity to explore the lake. looking at depth charts of the lake and knowledge of recent experience we decided to fish in 50-60ft of water. Tom, ice fishing more times then he can count had the hut fully set up in minutes and before i knew it i had my line in the water and a coffee in hand. our hut set up off an island point proved to be a good location. schools were coming through the area and more then once did we have on double headers. the action was fast and i was having a blast. the big fish we were after seemed to be eluding us. that was until a little later in the day. i hooked a good fish and it wasnt moving off bottom. knowing big lake trout were in the area i got pretty excited. unfortunatly i was using very light gear and mono. fishing at 60 ft i dnt think i got the greatest hook set, mind you the fish wrapping around outside lines didnt help either. i lost the fish but have been dreaming about redemption ever since. the trip was still a great success thanks to tom waldock and i made him promise to take me out there again.
