Australian Bream Tournaments

Over the past 2 weeks I have been in Tasmania fishing ABT bream tournaments. The first was held at Georges Bay St. Helens. I didn't catch many bream on pre fish and felt it was going to be a tough one. Day 1. Found a weed edge that was holding some good fish, my non boater John Galea, gave me a lesson and boated his limit of 5, I only managed 3 fish for 2.29kg. Day 2. Spent the day on the same edge, the fish were there, my non boater caught 2 solid bream, I however only boated 1 fish for the day after getting buried in the weed numerous times. We tangled with serious bi catch in the form of big trevally all day which ultimately ate up too much time. I finished in 15th position. The next event was at Derwent River Hobart. Again had a pretty slow pre fish, I wasn't finding numbers like some of the other competitors, further up river proved to be where most of the fish were caught. Day 1. Pulled a kilo fish in the first 10 minutes but only managed another 2 for the day totalling 2.32kg. Day 2. The struggle continued, I only caught 1 bream for the day, i'd certainly been beaten by this mighty waterway. A couple of sea run trout as bi catch helped ease the pain though. I finished 21st. The Tasmanian tour was a great experience, caught up with old friends made some new ones and fished a lot. On the journey I drove 2800kms took the Spirit boat over Bass Strait and back and was away from home and family for 2 weeks. Although I did it pretty tough I've learnt a bit and had a great time. ABT grand final qualification is based on your best 4 results, the top 40 earning a spot. After 4 rounds i'm placed 11th in the country. A huge thanks to my sponsors Shimano for the ongoing support. Cheers.
