Striped marlin

My mate Grant and I went to the shelf in search of late season marlin. Conditions were perfect and the bait was thick. We got a double hook up using live slimies for bait. Each fish ran in opposite directions which made things interesting. Grant managed to clear other rods put harnesses and gimbles on both of us, position the boat whilst fighting his own fish! Grants fish wore through his leader after about 10 minutes so we chased mine, which had already pulled a lot of line. After an hour and a half we got it!, Excuse the long edit but my fish pulled line non stop for about 5 minutes on 24kg gear after a healthy display near the boat. However, it was no match for the Shimano Tiagra 50 wide and T- Curve Revolution rod.
