Importance of Practice ~ FLW CANADA 2018
The 2018 FLW Canada event is in the bag and other than receiving
a big serving of “Humble Pie”, I also learned a lesson about the importance of
practice. I hadn’t been on the lake in
over 4 years and due to my prefishing schedule for the CSFL tournament series I
decided to skip prefishing for the FLW event.
I planned to use my past knowledge of the lake and the current fishing patterns
I had observed from fishing events on the Kawartha & Muskoka lakes. Unfortunately that approach did not pan out
very well. My failure to put in practice
time meant I had to spend day 1 developing a pattern. Not a good approach for success. Not only did I waste tournament time finding
fish, I also had the bad luck of running my motor over two rocks piles. Bottom line, my failure to put in the
practice time meant I had to eat multiple servings of that “Humble Pie”. I guess the old saying “failing to plan is planning
to fail” is very true. Lesson
learned!
Time to pack the boat, prep the
gear and get out on Tri-Lakes to get some additional practice time in before tourney
blast off!

quinte was fishing very different and harder than ever before. Most times of the year you can do well without a practice but this event in particular saw the hardest fishing the bay has seen since I started fishing it almost 10 years ago. Practice is always good to have though :)
