B1 Highlights and Recap
Another year of the B1 has come and gone and this year we walked away with a 9th place finish. Not what we had hoped for as we were looking to lay claim to the B1 rings and trophy however, anytime you can put yourself in a winning position in a tournament as big as this, you cannot be upset with your performance. Unfortuantley, the tournament had to be shortened to 1 day due to the weather conditions, which was the right call given all of the issues to consider.
We spent 3.5 days practicing for the event this year and had upwards of a dozen zones we thought we could catch fish off of to contribute to our win. Well, as with most tournaments, it never goes as planned. Fortuantley, our first zone accounted for most of the 19+lbs we brought to the scales. Even though the conditions that day were not entirely favourable for the techniques we were fishing, we figured with 3 hours to go we could run some of our big fish spots and still upgrade to a 22 or 23+lb sack. Unfortuantely, it was not meant to be that day, and we only managed one small upgrade along the way. The majority of our fish were caught on jackall jerkbaits paired with 15lb power pro line, or Set the hook crush worms and Jackall cross tail shads in goby imitating colours on drop shot rigs.
Every year I walk away from this body of water with so much additional knowledge, and this year was no different.
Next up, the Bass Pro Open. Take care out on the water.
