Light Line and Strong Bass

Getting to the water at around 12:30 in the afternoon, I was immediately questioning my decision as the 30 MPH constant wind had the lake rolling. The spots I had initially intended to fish were just practically unfishable. I had my Fortrex on 100 and was still being pushed backward due to the fact that the waves were just pulling the front of the boat up out of the water every other wave! I was forced to find some area that I would be able to fish in these crazy conditions. I found a secluded cove that had a rock bluff that was around 2ft deep for 4ft off of the bank, then dropped straight down to 25ft. I threw a SmartBaits Fiona Finesse Worm in my Carrot Stix rod equipped with an Ardent finesse spinning reel up to the bank, pulled it off of the ledge, and BAM 3lbs spotted bass. I stayed in this cove the rest of the afternoon and caught a ton of these Spotted Bass that were supposedly dying out of the lake. Needless to say, if you ever get in a situation to where you cannot fish familiar waters, do not be scared to go off of the grid and find secluded areas that only you may ever fish!
