Father/Son Multispecies Smackdown in Algoma Country
I was very fortunate recently to have an excellent outing with my son on the hard water! Like most parents that have a passion for something there's nothing better than sharing it with your kids. A finesse presentation was key to coax 5 different species top side on this trip. While paying close attention to my Vexilar FLX28 I found that lightly jiggling a small Euro Tackle Drop X tungsten jig tipped with a Euro grub directly in front of the fish was the ticket. My son being very attentive and like a sponge soaking in what I was doing managed to coax some solid fish into biting as well! The 24" UL Streamside predator rod did wonders for us during this outing!! Landing perch, bluegill, northern pike, lake herring, and Largemouth bass proved that we had a pattern going and it was working! The next time you plan to get out on the ice take a kid fishing with you and share the passion with them, you won't regret it, just look at that smile!!
