Monday smallies
Spend a few hours today with Morgan a good friend on lake Erie.
After putting at Crystal Beach we added to the New York side. the ride was ok .
Set the drift and almost immediately hooked up with a chunky smallie.
we are getting a few fish on every other drift but they are keyed on a particular bait it seems.
the bait of choice was the new swift goby a small swimbait from New Age lures a local comp. my set up included a 6'8" Simax TS68MXFS rod, the reel was spooled with 12lb BAWO supper finesse braid from Toray with a 10lb super hard fluorocarbon leader also from Toray.
I was rigging the Swift goby on a 1'2 football head .
All of our fish came from a depth of 35 to 25 feet.
Fish seems to be staging and should be moving shallow pretty soon.
At 1.30pm the wind started to really get up and we decided to call a day.
Cant wait to go back for more.

Great report Joe. Last day out on Erie was Dec 8th & we had a blast too! Have never done the spring on Erie. I'll get out there soon, after the Can/Am.
