Flat Fish Friday! Seabrook, TX

This Friday i had a couple of hours to spare before work, at sunrise about 6:45 am i went for a wade out in Seabrook, TX. I was limited on time so the hunt was on. When I went in the water it was at high tide and was fairly clear i started off using a 1/4 oz. jig wrapped in a Berkley Gulp Alive white swimming minnow. i felt the jig was too heavy with minimal bounce of the bottom, using my Line Cutterz Ring i rapidly changed to a 1/8 Jig looking for a better action. i got a few bumps but no real commitment. I switched out to a chartreuse colored jig once again relying on my trusty Line Cutterz ring which beats scissors any day. I continued to work structure and finally got onto a real bump, my anxiousness to hook up and limited time pushed me to set the hook to early and i lost my first fish, but i knew i was close. i continued working the area and caught the first flounder at 15" after a few minutes I had a second bump but lost it as well. after the second close call my time was running short. So I began to wade out towards the bank still casting to every type of structure I could about 10 yrds. before i made it out of the water I casted towards a beam and was able to hook up to my second flounder that was 17" i was on a limited schedule but managed to land two nice flounders in two hours, that will put a smile on any anglers face. Flounder are still slow in the northern Gulf of Texas, but if you put in the work and determination you are sure to find them scattered around. To all my fellow anglers Stay Safe and Tight Lines.
