Slogs

Yesterday, 9/7/2019, we did something that most will never do in the same wade let alone in their life time. We set out early around 6:15am from the dock, Cameron Craft Mark Abiera and Evan Frazar. Mark had been fishing the bay earlier in the week and lucky for us he has been on the fish. Hoping out of the boat around 6:40am we three set off to find the fish. Mark went to the flats where Cameron and I stayed on the deeper side of the cut. Both rigged up with Bomber Shad-Head 1/8 Jig heads and soft plastics we determined to find a school of some healthy fish. It was about 7:45am when I got the thump, BOOM!; this is the fish we've been searching for. Within second of setting the hook, the fish breaks the surface of the water, shaking its head like a pissed off rattlesnake. I knew this fish was big, keeping tension and patiently working her in and hooked my boga on her landing my PB! She was a little over 7lbs on a 30lb boga-grip and measured 28.5". After a few pictures she was released, swimming off with ease. Not even 5 minutes later, Camerons working his lure and SLAM!, he's tight! Not breaking the surface of the water this fish is staying low and hauling towards Cam trying to get slack in the line! Once close, Cam reaches for his net and lands the fish! Not knowing what he had just caught. I walk over slowing and to my disbelief Cam had just landed a 30" trout in the summer time! Weighing between 8.5-9lbs on the same 30lb boga-grip it was safe to say we just landed two lifetime fish within 5 mins of each other and while standing 50 yards apart. Words can't be translated from the excitement we shared! We wish every fisherman/woman out there that is a trophy hunter to keep grinding because your trophy is out there just waiting for you to catch! Remember to always respect the ocean and be the best person you can be everyday. This trip just got us that much more excited about the winter time! Hope everyone had a safe weekend. Cheers! Stay Tight, Stay Lucky!
