Alabama-rig, Umbrella-rig, Tomato, Tomauto

I always make it a point to meet up with Bernard Yong-Set, founder of String-Ease, whenever there's a show in town. This year was no different. I met with Bernard during the Mississauga Spring Fishing & Boat Show and we discussed how the umbrella rig is being heavily utilized on the Bass tournament scene, and how it's also been outlawed in some cases. Most importantly, he explained how in most cases anglers are throwing the wrong rig. In 2011 Bernard's innovative spirit won him a "Best of Award" at the 2011 Icast show in Las Vegas, for of all things; terminal tackle, namely the "Zero-Twist hook", as well as the fast-tach weight system, these two revolutionary designs changed the face of the drop-shot and finesse presentation forever. With the embers of last years accomplishments still glowing brightly, Bernard has set out to once again redefine the way we fish. This time his sights, are set on the umbrella rig. "This is the one you should buy, if you are going to buy one", Bernard told me during our candid video segment for The Offensive Edge. Re-engineering, the umbrella rig, to properly present itself is Bernard's main focus. " With the jig-heads pulling the bait down, and your line pulling the rig up, the lures attached are not presented naturally". Bernard informed me. Currently Ontario legislation accepts the use of the umbrella rig design that has four arms and one hook per arm. However be sure to read the Ministry Regs for you area concerning this issue, or call your local office if you have any questions or concerns. Fans of the umbrella rig should be on the look-out for the New re-engineered umbrella rig at your local tackle retailer sometime this year. Until next time this is me saying to you, "Where ever you fish, fish on The Offensive!" Ben
