Late September Bassin'

Last Friday late day I left for North Eastern Ontario for 5 days of fishing. Weather was blue sky's and sun on day 1 and 2 with breezy mornings that lasted all day. Day's 3 and 4 were rainy and overcast with calm mornings from what I remember. Day 5 was a mix of sun and cloud with rain through the afternoon. Temp's stayed pretty warm. I don't have a fishfinder so I can't record the water temps but my guess from feel would be mid to high 60's at best. I caught fish on just a few rods and reels this trip. I'll list those at the end. For bait's we caught fish on a variety of baits. The Nichols 1/2oz Metal Flake Pulsator Spinnerbait, a 1/2oz Pearl White and 3/8oz Pearl White Swim Jig. For a trailer I take the PowerTeam Lures 4.8" Swinging Hammer, cut the head down 3/4's of a inch and I rig that on the jig. It gives the bait lot's of lift and a wide thump on the fall. I used this to both fish outside weed lines as well as for shallower flat's and lily pad areas. Second was a 3/4oz Stand-Up Jig by "The Perfect Jig". I used this 90% of the time out deep anywhere from 6-15FOW. Making long pitches and giving the jig 4 or 5 agressive hop's back was key. This only was hot for the trip while the sun was out. Once the weather arrived the reaction baits took the bite over. For a trailer I used the PowerTeam Lures 3.5" Texas-Rig Jig. It's a perfect little craw with a netural boyancy and durable claws. I ran through maybe 7 baits in 8 days. Very good as a trailer and that lovely PowerTeam Lures HogTonic garlic was applied after every fish, the amino acid allows rubber to absorb the scent....I just believe the more the better especially when after Pike were on the line. They quite often were on the run during every hookset. The Vision 110+1, Texas rigged TRJ with both 3/8oz and 1/2oz Tungsten also played a small role in putting decent fish in the boat. The rods that landed fish this trip were as follows. Pitching Plastic(NRX916C UBR/Core 50Mg7)(60lb Sunline FX2 Braid) Jig's (NRX895C JWR/Chronarch 100D7)(22lb Sunline Shooter Fluoro) Swim Jig's (NRX895C JWR/Chronarch 100D7)(22lb Sunline Shooter Fluoro) Swim Jig's (GLX855C JWR/Calcutta Conquest 100)(50lb Sunline SX1 Braid) Spinnerbait's (Shimano Expride 7'1H/Exsence 100DC)(20lb Sunline Reaction FC) Jerkbaits (Orochi F4.5-68XX/Core 50Mg7)(10lb Sunline Reaction FC)
