Berkley B1 2014

This years Berkley B1 was a roller coaster ride. The week before the tournament, I battled a nasty flu, Friday while getting ready for the meeting, I had to jump into the river and as I was leaving for Valleyfield, our boat trailer broke and we were almost not able to fish on Saturday. Needless to say, come saturday I was less than excited and also really nervous because during pre-fish we had found nice fish, but I couldn't land one in the boat. Once we got to our fishing area and I had a 4.5lber in the boat in the first ten minutes, I was pretty excited. We had our 5 fish by 1 for my personal best during a tournament of 20.87lbs even with all the rain . Every year at the B1, I have a goal of making it to fish Day 2 since we've never had a good pre-fish and anything more would be wishful thinking, but this year we made in to day 2 sitting in the top 10. This meant, that no matter how Sunday went, we were still going to weigh in our fish on stage from our boats. The excitement was unbelievable, I was so excited I almost cried. Words still can't explain the feelings that I was feeling. Going into Day 2, I was a little more confident. The weather was nicer and I knew we could still manage another 5 fish. We did just that and pulled out another 18.55lbs for Day 2. I was over the moon, we ended finishing in 11th place overall and it still feels like a dream come true. A huge thank you to everyone who works so hard to put this tournament together and a big congratulations to everyone who fished!
