Research And A Game Plan Pay Off
It's great to see new people get into Musky fishing and even better when they are successful.
Russ is a friend of mine from work and loves fishing. He had never caught a Musky but was intrigued by the myths and lore that surround these toothy critters and was determined to catch one.... or two.
Evenings spent on the computer watching You-Tube videos, reading articles and asking questions, Russ put together a game plan and presented it to me at work one day. After a brief discussion, Russ was eager to head North for the weekend and set his plan to work.
Armed with a trolling rod, steel leader and a brand new spinner bait and the proper release tools, Russ set out to do some short line trolling on a weed edge close to a channel and deep water.
I was on the water myself when his text came in. His proud smile said it all and the text stated... "Not very big, but it's a start"
Two days later I received another text from Russ. This time his smile was bigger and so was the fish. The text said "getting bigger" and he wasn't kidding.
A healthy looking 46" fell for his presentation and Russ has now joined the fanatical group of Musky fisherman.
whether you are a season angler or new to a certain species, some research and a game plan can go a long ways.
