First Laker Thru the Ice

This year marked the first year that I really took ice fishing seriously. I got the proper equipment to fish comfortably as I'm not a huge fan of the cold. This year a goal that I had was to catch my first ever lake trout through the ice. So pretty much every couple of weeks, I would truck my gear up to a lake where I catch them in the spring and this lake trout season is open all year long. Finally, after 2 months of being unsuccessful on a lake that I was familiar with, I did my research and hit up another lake in Renfrew County. Only managed one bite but was able to bring in my first ever lake trout through the ice. It was one I can take off my bucket list. Using a rapala V-Blade in Ghost Blue on a medium action Quantum ice spinning combo on 6 lbs line, I was able to land it. All in all it was just fun hunting them down and moving around until they finally showed up.
