Streamside Predator Board Rod

With spring in the air, many anglers are chomping at the bit in anticipation of the open water season. If you enjoy chasing big fish in open water trolling as I do, having a good rod that can handle your Off-Shore Tackle Planer Boards and fighting big fish is crucial. Last season Streamside introduced their Predator Board rods to anglers. After seeing all Streamside posting on FaceBook, I decided to pick up two 8'6" and one 7'9" Streamside Predator Board rods. The Streamside Predator Board rods are a Med/Heavy rod with a full graphite blank, Alox guides, and an Eva rear grip with cork foregrip. After running it for the season, I found that the long rod handle slide in and out of the rod holds without any problems. The rod tip handled the strain of the Shore Tackle Planer Boards with ease, and the Eva rear grip with cork foregrip allowed for better rod control when fighting a big fish. Because the rods are Med/Heavy, I found that backing off the drag after removing the planer board prevented ripping hooks out while fighting a fish. My biggest Walleye of the season came on this rod while trolling crawler harnesses, Liquid Mayhem, 1 oz., in-line weights, and Off-Shore Planer Tackle boards with Craig and Josee Salmonson. It was 311/2 inches long. After a quick picture, she was released back to the depths for someone else to catch. Overall, if you're looking at trying open water trolling this season or purchasing a new trolling at a reasonable price, I would suggest picking up a Streamside Predator Board rod.
