Hungry Trout
Every time I get together with my buddy and fellow NPS am Mike Good it is a great time, and this day was to say the least. We went out dodging a pile of floating ice chunks to try to catch some fish. The day started out with a decent launch, where the four wheel drive and snow tires came in handy and saved some back aches. Once launched we quickly realized we were not the only ones out fishing today, 3 big beautiful bald eagles soaring the sky. Also in the middle of the ice pack was a flock of gulls deep diving, this was happening on the other side of the ice so we were not able to get to this area and try our luck. Once we got to our destination the fishing was a little slow, not the action we were expecting. Covering ground we kept trying different areas to catch fish and we finally found them. Not sure if coincidence or not, but when the snow started to come down so did the rod tips. We were non stop rainbows and browns for about an hour and a half, and the snow was coming down thick. Keeping a close eye on the ice pack we had to leave, the wind changed direction and the ice started trapping us in. Good thing I was keeping a close eye on the situations because we don't need another deadliest catch. Berkley plastics were todays bait of choice and our G.Loomis rods were powerful and full of action, not missing any hits because of their sensitivity and full of back bone for fighting big fish.

I admire you devotion to the sport. Going out on the water this time of year is really something. I bow to you for doing everything possible to get your favorite fish.

Nicely done. The thought of being on soft water right now is hard core. Nice fish!
