kawartha eyes couldn't say no to salmo this weekend
Kawartha golden eyes couldn't resist salmo
Yesterday was opening day for walleye in zone 17 in southern Ontario . So I decided to get the boat ready and head out for some walleye action.
The night before after hearing the weather conditions of a front that was moving in from the states and higher than normal water conditions from the past winter I knew the fish would be grouped up still be very timid into to striking fast moving baits.
So I decided to use and old favorite bait the salmo hornet and the salmo perch crank which is new to myself. The nice tight motion that these cranks have the walleye just could not say no to them.
I was fishing humps ranging from 9-12 feet of water with a nearby weed line. This would ensure the fish would be moving in an out most of the day feeding.
The key in getting them to strike the crank this past weekend was going slow if you thought you were going to fast slow down even more. They just wanted the bait crawling nice and slow let the fish tell you how they want it rang your speeds as the day goes on and depending on if they are just pushing the bait or crushing it the fish will tell you how they want the bait presented.
Well tightlines and have fun out there
