Urban Fish Tales & Tails

Dateline: August 1, 2016 Civic Holiday in The Big Smoke. With all of the events we hold for the public and other groups thorough out the season, it's sometimes difficult for our Toronto Urban Fishing Ambassadors to get out as a group to angle the shorelines for fun. We foster, educate, and promote urban fishing and conservation for all ages and skill levels. Yes, we all get out on our own frequently and some times with a few others around the GTA. Timing on this day was perfect for more of our "Usual Suspects" to spend a day out with some friendly competition covering the Toronto Islands Park. You can see by the map the sheer volume of areas where you can wet a line about 10 months out of the year. It may not be the quietest of spots on the weekend but that's part of the urban angling challenge. The catch seems like "Tournament Style Big Fish Honours" when you're battling slippery shorelines and rocks, cutting through brush, avoiding fire ants , birds, boat traffic, and always watching around you for the general public before you cast. No boat to load up with gear so we choose what we can carry in our backpacks or bikes for the 10k / 8 hour plus trip. Always lots of laughs along the way with some of the finest people you will every meet. My toy of choice was the Daiwa Revros Spinning Combo REV25-4BI/G702M. It features a five bearing system (4+1) and lightweight ABS aluminum spool. The digital-gear design and Air Rotor easily handle hard-fighting fish like our bowfin, bass and pike. Combined with their Justron high viz line, this is a wallet friendly choice that does not skimp on quality. I'll be carrying it to many more spots. For more info on where to fish here (and there's a lot!) please visit us at: http://torontourbanfishing.com/ I love my town. I love my life.
