Boating season has begun

Went out on my dads boat Sunday however, we got hammered with rain the past week and the lake was super muddy from the run off of the Erie tribs. Tried fishing for perch in deep water but had no luck and didn't see anything being caught around us. Monday I went out on my friends boat and fished the Upper Niagara. We spent a lot of time on the water trying different techniques, locations, and a variety of tackle including stick baits, crank baits, Berkely minnows, and tub jigs. My one friend caught a smallie and a LMB, and my other friend caught a LMB. I brought my pin on the boat because I wanted to try and catch a smallie. The first fish I landed on the pin was a decent size carp that took me for a few good runs. During this trip I ended up catching a couple smallies, LMB's, and a rudd. It was a lot of fun taking the pin out and experimenting. I know the pin is traditionally used for float fishing but, in my opinion it definitely can be used on the lakes as well. It reminded me of my childhood fishing with a red and white bobber and to this day nothing beats the rush of watching your float go down!!
