NB Pro Bass Tour Season Opener at Harvey Lake

Saturday was the season opener at Harvey lake in central New Brunswick. The anticipation for this tournament was very high as there has not been a tournament held here in a few years amd the lake is known to hold some of NB's largest smallmouth. The weather was chilly and misty in the morning but the wind was calm. Harvey has a reputation for being the destroyer of many lower units as there are huge ledges and boulders all over the lake. It was a tough day for most of the anglers as a cold front slipped over in the afternoon. For the teams that did manage to find 5 fish, they were mostly made up of 1.5 to 2 lbers. The team of Trevor and David Breau managed to put together a winning bag of 5 fish weighing in at 14.20 lbs with a 4.20 lb lunker. Also the team of Gary Baird and Doug Hamilton found 5 smallies to weigh in at 14.00 lbs even. Third place went to George Hood and Peter Thomas with 12.50. Myself and Dean Jones found 5 smallies late in the day during, what we called, the 15 min of fame. We pulled into a spot and made 8 casts and pulled 8 fish. but the best 5 weighed in at 7.60 lbs. We finished in the middle of the pack and I think thats not to shabby considering I've only fished that lake once before. As usual we had a ball and laughed and had a great time.
