2015 Year in Review

The 2015 season is all but coming to an end and if I could only use one word to describe how it went it would be "Consistent. It was one of my better years competitively in tournaments and interaction with many great anglers. The social aspect of tournament fishing is what keeps me going. The Northern Ontario Walleye Trail is a great circuit for just that if you are looking for some fun and meet new people. Anglers are friendly and information is not always accurate, what would you expect when real money is on the line though. You can always expect the odd disagreement on the water as well. I used to be bothered by that but now I just let it go. What happens on the water stays on the water for me, life is too short. Carrying the anger only ruins the trip I find. None of what I do is possible without my supporting partners who continue to stand behind what I love to do. Thanks to Crestliner Boats, Mercury Marine, Clam Outdoors, Off Shore Tackle, Streamside, Northland Fishing Tackle, Vexilar, Salmo Lures, Navionics and many others. I can't tell you how many times my supporting partners helped me out. Also want to give a shout out to Allstar Marine & Powersports for the many times they got me back on the water in quick turnaround. The final stats on the season was 9 tournaments fished, 3 circuits crossed, 7 top ten finishes, 4th in Team of the Year, 5th for Angler of The Year, 2nd place top finish and qualified for the 2016 AIM National Team Championships. The circuits fished were the Michigan Walleye Tour, Aim Great Lake division and the Northern Ontario Walleye Trail. Nicholas Werner and I finished 4th in Team of the Year standings for AIM Great Lakes Divison and we now have a 1 in 30 shot at a $50,000 boat package in 2016. If I can offer any tips or words of advice if you are a competitive angler or contemplating becoming a competitive angler, family support is an important ingredient for success on the road and in life. Family can mean many things, whether its my friends, supporting partners or my wife and daughter, they are all important to me and the grind of another fishing season. None of it makes sense without them. Knowing what you need to improve on can also increase your ratio of success. Going forward for me, I need to get back to writing more because it is something I really enjoy. You can expect more quality articles from me in 2016 as I share more of my secrets. Also watch out for an article coming out next summer in a great magazine where I will share some great tips to help improve your next outing on the water. A special thanks to my family, without them none of this is possible and thanks to my tournament partners Dave Wagler, Nicholas Werner, Jason Doyon and Pete Beaulieu as they made each trip enjoyable. Stay tuned for more great articles in the future as I hope you Get Hooked.

Glad to see you had a fun and successful season Shane. Best of luck at the AIM event next season! Your first paragraph speaks volumes to all tournament series and if you can just leave what happens on the water it will keep you going for years to come.
