2014 Tournament Season Kick Off

Spring seems to be on the way now with the warmer temperatures. Still lots of ice and snow in my neck of the woods. My first open water walleye tournament starts in the next week. Heading down to Detroit to fish the river and Lake Erie for some large greenbacks. This is the Cabela's Master Walleye event that takes place around this time every year. I was a little worried about 2 weeks ago due to all the ice still on Lake St Clair. All the ice is now gone off the lake and it is go time. Last year we ended up in 2nd place with 84 +lbs for a 10 fish weight. This system is really starting to produce some large walleye and in lots of numbers too, You can jig, handline, lindy rig, troll with the boards and many other different techniques for these hogs. Every year is an incredible trip that you wish would never end. This is by far my favourite event and fishery just for sheer numbers and size. I am really looking forward to running my new salmo minnows and stings on the handlines to feel that hard tug on the arm. The Streamside rods are packed and protected with my Rod Gloves and can't wait to set the first jig. I did pack my Ice Armor gear just in case the weather decides to cool down. Picked up the new rig in Huntsville recently and it is rigged and ready. My electronics are setup and loaded with Navionics maps. Can't wait to deploy the MInn Kota 101 Terrova for the first drift in Hoggsville. Stay tuned for pictures and video from the this 9 day trip.

Nice ride..To bad they don't put the SST on that model. My Crestliner with the SST gives a huge amount of space. Might see you in Detroit...annual event..no tourney, just great Waldo fun.
