When less is more

The new Curado 70 has been out for a couple of weeks and a few of them are already available in some tackle shops. For more than 25 years, the name Curado as always set the standards by which other reels are judged. This year Shimano sets another standard by introducing a new Curado that falls in size between the 100 series and the diminutive 50 series. The first time I saw it, I asked myself: "Why would I need a smaller reel?" Well, for one, I like a reel with a small profile that can fit in the palm of my hand when I'm pitching or casting. I don't have large hands but, at first contact, the Curado 70 felt right at home. I also like a light reel with a fast start up that lets me cast quickly and smoothly to targets that are close by or a bit farther. To do that, the new Curado offers a compact, super rigid, HAGANE body that provides all-day comfort. For durability, smoothness and power, the Curado 70 has features like X-Ship, SVS Infinity brake System and Stable Spool Design, all of which I've used and really like. These features should contribute to making the Curado 70 a reel that has a small footprint, but a large impact on my fishing success. I'm really looking forward to using it this season!
