Summertime

Summertime, and the fishin' is easy Hot weather is usually an excuse for not catching fish. That wasn't the case this week as the metabolism of largemouth bass in some of the lakes in Quebec reached its peak and they went on a feeding binge. You could catch them using a variety of techniques but pitching and flipping remained the best presentation for the bigger fish. Most of the largemouths were holding in reeds or cattails chasing perch. If you could throw a lure into those littles highways between the stalks, you would get bit. The best lures remained jigs and swimbaits. A half once jig tipped with a Green Pumpkin Chartreuse Jackall Chunk Craw was the tool to use in heavy cover. When the vegetation opened up a bit, you could throw one of the new Jackall Rhythm Wave on a 1/8 once weighted hook. Color wise, Prism Shad was really hot. When bass chased but did not commit, a backup rod with a senko type lure did the trick. Yes, fish are jumpin' and the living is easy!
