Nootka Salmon Report

Just returned from guiding at Nootka Sound...tough fishing to say the least but we did manage some good Chinook with some bonus Coho at 12 and 13 pounds that came in on an Irish Cream "Skinny G" spoon behind a STS flasher at 23'. The Chinook were deeper this year with my best numbers at 55' thru to 84' on the Scotty Downriggers. We caught on Anchovies (No Bananas anchovie teaser worked best) but the Yamashita needle fish hootchies in glow mated with the Gibbs Delta Tackle Gold/Green/Yellow and STS Guide Series flashers kicked butt. Lost a reel screamer one evening on a double header...couldn't clear the riggers fast enough as it ran at the boat, spun around one of the cables breaking us off. That was on my one and only Coho Killer. A new color called "The Herring Aid" Will be sure to load up for next year! Silver Horde and Gold Star Fishing Lures
