Lay Lake Prefish
My wife, Karen, and I decided to take our Stratos out for a run. It's our spare boat that we use occasionally for pre fishing tourneys, here in the south. We put in at Beeswax creek, where KVD won his tourney using his red eye shad. The water levels were up due to the rain and we had to keep a look out for some fairly large "floaters while up on plane. I hooked into a fairly decent 4lb largie on my second cast. We were sitting in 6ft of water casting into 2ft. I was using a chrome with blue top RattleTrap, working it thru the skinny water, ripping it thru the weeds. It was a nice way to start our day off. We continued on up the river to a nice stump field on the left side of the main river ledge. I guessed we fished there for about 40 minutes when Karen hooked into a monster. The fish ended up breaking off, leaving Karen a little disappointed. We both decided to run around a bit, checking out some of our secondary spots for an upcoming tournament. Karen tied on a Roumba topwater and cast out to some pads located just inside a little slew we found. She worked that bait back towards the boat real slow and would stop it and let it sit for a few seconds and then continued on with that slow cadence. We saw the swirl and watched her topwater disappear below the surface. Another nice 4lb'er in the live well! We didn't catch any more fish that afternoon. Just marked some spots on our GPS for our up coming tournament. Water temperature was at 67 degrees. It was a beautiful day on the water!

I fished all day yesterday and never even got bit. Karen managed to catch a spot just before we pulled the boat out. Hope things go better today and the water clarity cleans up some. It would help if they pulled some current!!!
