Fishing St Clair

Had a great time fishing St. Clair this past weekend. My boat is back in Alabama but decided to go fish and support the Golden Horseshoe Bass Anglers as a non. Saturday I fished with Jamie Edwards. Never met him before. Great guy! Super fisherman. We had a blast fishing together despite the slow bite. The water was fairly calm and we had 8 MPH winds. I threw a smoke purple Slammer and found that the bites were short. The fish were biting the tails off my slammers! The smallies were tight to cover in the weeds. You had to just catch the tops of the weeds and rip it to get a reaction bite. The big sack of the day was 16.72. We ended up finishing a respectable 8th place with 12.17 Sunday I fished with Gary Sanderson of the WW club. Great stick! We blasted off and headed to our first spot. The water was alot more choppier than on Saturday. I tell you what...I had a hard time fishin on the back. Almost went in a few times...lol. Gary had some great spots. He told me that we might not get bit as much but they would be good ones! We didn't have our first fish in the live well until later in the morning. Gary was dragging a tube and I was drop shotting my trusty slammer. Just wanted to let y'all know that I tried throwing a 6XD crankbait, swimbait, jerkbait and even a Alabama rig (I never leave home without one) and never got bit. Stick with what works! The bite picked up some just after 1PM. The water had died right down with the wind. We started tearing them up and ended up winning on Sunday with 15.53 Great guys...good weather.....and catchin fish! What more could you ask for :)
