Kentucky Lake Ledge Fishing

Hey, Y'all. Here is an awesome tip that was shown to me by an ELITE angler while fishing Kentucky Lake main river ledges. Fish suspend fairly deep on these ledges and I found out that a deep diving crankbait just won't quite make it down to the depth I need sometimes. Well here is something I've never seen done before that day...but I tell you what...It works. What you do is take your crankbait (example DD22) and remove the front hook and ring. Tie a 18-36" leader (12lb fluoro) with swivel and desired weight that is terminated by a 10" carolina rigged lizard. The extra weight will hold the nose of your crankbait downwards allowing it to dive a lot deeper. Now you have 2 baits you can get bit on! Those spotted bass love them lizards! Try using the Strike King Iguanas and fill them livewells up!!

Sounds very different. How well did it cast - I would think the leader might tangle with the crank. If not, I can see this working in early fall on both Erie & Simcoe
