NY BASS Nation Northeastern Regional

Had the opportunity to fish Cayuga Lake for the 2 day N.Y. BASS Nation Northeastern Regionals. Day one we started out at a nice lake point with some healthy grass along with a decent underwater point running 10’ out to 20’. I started tossing my drop shot rigged up with a 5150 Plastics 6” straight tail worm which landed me my biggest fish of the event first cast on the deeper edge, a 5lb smallie. We ran around to a few other spots with not much action until we came to a small stretch of rock and weeds in about 10-15ft if water around 12pm which my buddy put me on. We cranked out some Megas here and fast! The trick was to just touch the crankbait off the grass and then cause some sort of change in the lures retrieve. We had to make long parallel casts to the main weed edge. I was able to land 2 more fish for my 3 fish limit which gave me just under 13lbs for day 1 setting me up in the lead. Day 2 came and we started out where I cranked a few yesterday and started my morning right out with a healthy 3.5lb largemouth. Boater picked up a few then we moved down lake to where I caught the smallie. Thankfully the fish weren’t to far and I was able to land one on a drop shot for about 4.3lbs. Spent the rest of the day grinding it out for that last bite and finally got my chance on a deep weed edge where I pulled my last fish up to end the day with a 3 fish limit for just under 10lbs which was good enough to take home the win and send me to Pickwick Lake, Alabama in November. Couldn’t have did what I did without the amazing boaters I had both days and all of the companies who have have had my back this year! Going to be a fun adventure that’s for sure!
