Spednic Lake round 3

Back to Spednic Lake for round three with my friend and neighbor Robert Powell. We are going to try and expand on what Ron and I found during the last show and see what else the lake has to offer. On our last trip we saved the trails we ran on the Lowrance Live sonar units so we knew those areas were safe to run. We had picked a cove off of Google Maps that we wanted to have a look at and slowly picked our way in while recording a trail on the Lowrance for a faster trip back out which was a big help and I now have to safe travel lanes we can use. We idled quite a way back in and marked some grass that started at about the 8 foot mark so we shut down and started to fish. Surprisingly the first fish hit a Jackall ReRange 110 in about six feet of water. A lot of folks think of Jerk Baits as a spring and fall bait but they can be effective all year not just in cold water. The lake temperature today is a 79 degrees F. which is a bit on the balmy side. We mixed it up a bit and got fish on the SK Pop Grande, #4 Silver Blue Fox spinner, drop shot soft stick baits and Texas rig stick baits. We also picked up a few on a tube. We spend the entire day picking apart one small piece of this big cove and there is lots more to look at for another day. I was fishing the top water on a 6' 6" MH Shimano Crucial rod with 15 lb Power Pro. Most of our other baits were thrown on 7" Shimano med. rods with 2500 series Stradic and Sahara reels spooled with Power Pro and a flouro leader. The key for us today was staying in or near the grass. We put about forty fish in the boat today and had a lot of fun. We are going to pick another area for our next trip and we will see how that works out. This is a beautiful, big and rocky lake and you need to exercise a great deal of caution if you come to explore. #shimanokeepsyoufishing #fishjackallcan #anglersunite
